Michele Wright, a photographer based in Carmarthen, is showing a collection of photographs: twenty-eight images of people and their pets, a project that began in 2001.
‘The relationship between a person and their pet can be a complex one but is always fascinating. We value them for the unconditional love that they give us, their loyalty, and for making us laugh and sometimes even cry.
I have attempted to capture both the diversity of pet ownership that exists together with the unique relationships between the parties.’
These portraits make you smile. There is Ray Gravell with his cat, Griff Rhys Jones with his dog, and a few unusual ones that make you shudder, such as Tim with the bird-eating spider on his hand and his budgie looking down from his cage, and ‘Elvis’ with a python wrapped around him. Witty captions add to the experience, and Michele has succeeded in producing a fabulous collection that will eventually be published in book form.

Michele also has, on the Stairs, eight A1 'multi-dimensional portraits', which are made up of one large photograph of a person engaged in their life, with three smaller images in ‘windows’ under the main image. These tell a story and give us an insight into their personalities.
