JANETTE PHILLIPS : 7 for a secret - 10 Feb -
Mar 11
Janette Phillips has produced a fine body of work based
on a short film she made of a friend moving through a woodland
area in a wedding dress collecting things like a magpie,
which is the clue to the title of the show “seven for
a secret”.
She then took stills from this film and
made prints and paintings based on the beautiful patterns
in the trees and movement of the dress. Haunting music accompanies
the film and the subtle layers of paint with discreet use
of mixed media gives an overall impression of mystery.
The
photographs on the stairs are also by Janette and these are
based on heart shapes made in the sand and in
the dew and in nature, very attractive and appropriate
for this valentine month.
Janette has moved to Pembrokeshire
with her husband who is also an artist and their three
children. She has a background in graphics and over the
recent years has developed an interesting style which explores
different surfaces and reflects her recent fine art training.
