  AR BAPUR - ON PAPER
An exhibition of work on paper by three artists:
Gwenllian Beynon, Ruth Jên Evans and Luned Rhys Parri

October 15 - November 20, 2004

The exhibition 'Ar Bapur' promotes the work of three artists who all live in Wales, work in Wales and are Welsh speaking. What they each create is work that develops their own visual language rooted in the intimate knowledge of their homeland.

Though steeped in the history and mythology of Wales, none of them follows the expected path of Celtic imagery and none of them takes the easy route of following traditional craft styles

Unlike many artists who feel they are working in isolation, these three are well integrated into their village communities. There is a sense of continuity in their work; of history and language as well as an awareness of the changing face of the land around them and the communities in which they live.

'Ar Bapur' runs at Oriel Queens Hall Gallery until 20 November 2004
