Main Gallery

1 to 26 July

The exhibition is open 10.00am to 5.00pm Monday through Saturday. All the works on show will be auctioned on Sunday 26 July at 2.00pm. On auction day, the gallery will be open from 11.30. If you are unable to be at the auction in person, there is an opportunity to put in a sealed bid. Forms are available from the Gallery Manager. Last year, 20% of bids were successful, and we will deliver anywhere somehow!

There are 58 pieces of art to see this year. Many well-known local artists are featured: Osi Rhys Osmond, Christine Kinsey, Elizabeth Haines, Andrea Kelland, Martin White, Sarah Young, Elizabeth Cramp, Catrin Webster, Heather Eastes, Susan Sands, Helen Gillam, Peter Blincow, Deborah Lewis, Mike Davies, Neil Crowther and more. Some people have brought in work from their own collections. Among these are pieces by John Knapp Fisher, Robert Lawton, Eden Evans, John James Ballantyne and Charlie Baird. There is also a collection of terracotta vessels, a couple of photographs, and a few sculptures. The reserves are realistically low this year so there will definitely be some bargains to be had.

This is the main fundraiser organised by the Friends of the Gallery to raise the money to pay the rent. Although the gallery is in receipt of a small lottery grant, it is not enough, and, without the support of the Friends and the generosity of artists and buyers, we would not survive. So, please do your bit to keep us going, and do yourself a favour by snapping up a bargain for your wall, or investing in a piece for family or friends.

On the stairs, Diane Abbot is showing a collection of her photographs: lovely sunsets and spiders' webs. As an amateur photographer who is passionate about the beauty of nature, she has enjoyed capturing some of its splendours since she discovered digital cameras. ‘While I walk with friends, I carry my camera with me, not wanting to miss a shot, be it animal, vegetable or mineral! There is so much to be seen here.’

Oriel Fach has become a bookshop this month, with a new collection from the Library of Wales published by Parthian, alongside a selection of poetry, art, autobiographies and fiction from Gomer and Seren.
