This exhibition features the degree work of three recently graduated students from the West Wales College of Arts: Fiona Scourfield, Frances Brosman and Martine Smithson. The high standard of the pieces, along with the completely different techniques used result in a fascinating and excellent show.

Fiona has employed new technology which she explains: ‘My ceramic practice deals with the exciting interface between the digital 3D world and traditional ceramic production. I create designs using CAD programs which are then produced using 3D printers and traditional slip-casting methods in semi-porcelain and earthenware.
Inspiration is drawn from tropical plants and the formal language of ceramic vessels. The surface treatment also employs digital technology and photographic manipulation
.’

Frances makes fragile-looking ‘Favela shanties’, thinly slabbed porcelain structures perched on dowelling rods, inspired by her travels in Asia and also delicate cylindrical vases textured and patterned.

Martine’s pots are inspired by the textures and colours of the sea and shore. They have beautiful surfaces which she achieves using oxides and volcanic glazes. They have the feel of treasure that has been unearthed after millions of years.
